Description
This is the project for exhibiting the leading edge of the studies at the Research Campus in the University of Tokyo for the public and the business. There are three devices to achieve the goals of the project; the publication and finding business partners. The 60 meter-long map of the campus is drawn on the pilotis of the building. The huge map drawn on the campus and the small handy map distributed for the visitors are related each other. The part of the studies at the laboratories located on the map is exhibited inside the 50cm x 50cm showcase. Moreover, the arrows using the shadow are placed at everywhere in the campus. Therefore, they can easily get to the laboratories. The drawn map on the building is the real miniature of the campus.

This is an arrow which stands by its shadow.
This is the portable sign plan designed by the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo.

Branding campaign for the new 'Udon noodle' product composed of gourd powders. This product is manufactured by Chamber of Commerce of Oyama in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Oyama is a major producing district of Kanpyo; gourd strips used for Japanese dishes such as Sushi roll. They needed a new brand which shows presence of both 'Kanpyo' and 'Udon noodle' brand for the future Kanpyo branding strategy.
For making the new brand, I focused on two tasks of design. One was to make the friendly design which would be remembered at one glance at store. The other one was to make the high class design which was able to compete with other traditional high class Udon brands. To solve these seemingly-contradict tasks, I made the new character of Kanpyo(gourd) with the touch of traditional Japanese calligraphy drawn on Japanese paper.
By elaborating the package design to make the product classy for representing the good quality of noodle itself, the package became the high-class brand design product beyond a usual character products.

This project is the visual identity of TECHTILE exhibition. As TECHTILE is the exhibition for the tactile technology and design, I made the VI which induces tactile sensation by printing a myriad of finger prints.
Description
I was wondering about the primordial tactile experience before I designed the space. And finally, I realized the thermal sensing like touching ice is one of the most primitive tactile experiences. In this exhibition design, I tried to make the space where recall the memory of tactual sensation of ice, with incredibly low cost about 2,000Yen (20USD)/m2. This exhibition space is the trial to make huge icicle made from food wrap film. Huge icicle tubes are made from food wrap film more than 10000m. You can feel as if your own body gets iced in the space.

This project is the visual identities of TECHTILE exhibition 2. Along with the theme of the exhibition 'SMOOTHNESS,' I made typography with the most smooth object, 'BUBBLE'.
Description
TECHTILE exhibition was held by academic researchers of tactile technology. In this exhibition, they focused on the integration of the tactile design and the advanced tactile technology. 'SMOOTHNESS' is the key concept of TECHTILE 2 exhibition.
I chose bubbles as the main material for the exhibition design as I thought that the smoothest material in this world was bubble. The bubbles generated and changed its shape smoothly inside of the exhibition table were shone by the light. Bubbles have behavior to keep their installation surface with 120 degrees which are the most stable structure of bubbles. You can see their order and chaos, which are the basis of the nature beyond design. This bubbles exhibition design fused the contents of advanced technologies and the space with primitive phenomenon.

This is the booklet for the interactive interface software called "the vines of time" which shows the history of a research center in The University of Tokyo. I made the coil of book binding look like the 3-dimensional vine in the flat booklet. The printed plant grows and grows when you turn pages, and it blooms in the last page.

In Japan, there was a custom to eat a meal on a leaf from a long time ago. I wonder if leaves are the first table ware for mankinds. We may have primitive memory about the leaf table ware. I think that's why we feel comfort when we eat on a leaf. This leaf shaped place mat is the 10 times expansion of a little leaf structure. I carefully hand traced the lines of leaf vein in a very small leaf. Please go through the dinner with the precise structure in a small nature.

Rebirth is the lighting object which is made by real egg shells. Egg shells are very fragile and weak material, but you can make a big structure by attaching them in a mutually complementary form. And then, the structure becomes an autonomously-controlled beautiful shape of necessity such as naturally-occurring form.
In this age with tons of artificial things around us, I feel many people desire to have 'real things,' which provide them actual feeling of being, by experiencing nature or life itself. This light with the name of Rebirth, is a design product which was born from life itself. When you realize the signature of lives on the surface of egg shells on Rebirth, you may feel some special emotional ties between the Rebirth and you. This project will be a part of 'Open Source Products' which aim to try to distribute products design without consumption.
